DIY TUTORIAL: Card Suit Decor

It is a hard life being a Milgrom Kid. I am pretty sure they will either be just as addicted to hardware stores as their Mother is, or they WON’T BE CAUGHT DEAD IN ONE FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIFE.
Here she is, taking her afternoon nap in Home Depot. (Don’t Judge me)
ANYWAYS… Back to the reason for this post. I want to show you how to make some HUGE game room wall décor!

DIY CHALKBOARD TUTORIAL

Hello friends! Need a fun project to do while your kiddos are entertained this summer???

Today I want to show you a DIY chalkboard you can make yourself for pretty cheap!! Normally I would say I hit up my local hardware store. But as you can see, I keep every scrap from my home renovation- so I had plenty to choose from in here. I had one big sheet that was perfect for what I had in mind. It is about as thick as a sheet of beadboard. It is a little flimsy- but it will eventually have a frame; so I didn’t mind. You can find other sheets at Home Depot or Lowe’s that might be a little thicker if you want it to be a little stronger of a board.

DIY TUTORIAL: GROWTH CHART

517creations made this TOTALLY AWESOME growth chart. I fell SO. IN. LOVE. with it I had to make one of my own and then share my success with all of you!

I started out with a 1x6x10 board and stained it. She used a 1x6x8, bu at Home Depot the only ones left in that size were bad pieces, and I was too impatient to find someone to cut a new one for me or come back another time. So I figured the next size up would do 🙂

I stained it once I got home and let it dry for a few hours, then added the lines and numbers on it with a paint pen. I copied 517 creations idea on starting the markings at 6 inches, because I wanted it hung on the wall, so my 6 foot board ended up going up to 6 and a half feet. (make sense?) If you want it to come right off of the floor, you can start with one inch. If you click on the link to her website above, she gives you a GREAT tutorial on how to make it 🙂

Once that was complete, I stuck in a nail hanger, and TAH-DAH! My growth chart was complete.

Now I can take this growth chart with me from house to house and not have it on my (actual) walls! My parents moved so many times so sadly I cant go back over and see my childhood growth marks 😦 But at least I can do it for my own children 🙂

Hope you like it! Let me know if you end up making one!!

TUTORIAL: Staging a House

Most of you remember that we moved here not too long ago. We rented out our home for a year, and just like that- BAM! The year has already come and gone. So, she is back on the market!!!

We went back and forth on what to do before listing it, and I decided to take half of our furniture- yes you read that right- load it up in a trailer, and drive it 4 hours away to stage our lovely home.

I thought you guys would maybe like to see what I did with the place! Some of you might be in the same spot as my family- so if I could help give you a few tips on staging a home then this post is worth it!

Enjoy!

Spoon and Fork Tutorial

So I have had several people ask me about my new spoon and fork on my kitchen wall. And I keep telling you all to go to my blog for the tutorial.Well I am so sorry it has taken me this long to actually post it on here! 🙂 So with out any further ado… My fork and spoon tutorial-

I first came across the idea when scrolling along Etsy. (dangerous.. I know..) I found these and the person selling them wanted $53 plus shipping! (There was another one for $89 plus shipping too!) I thought, “I can probably figure this out on my own and save a bunch of money” So I thought “what the heck!?” and went to Home Depot to look for some wood. I found this pre-cut piece and called it good. I cant remember exactly how much- but it was less than $20 for sure. Then I found a fork and spoon shape I liked off the internet, and printed it out- and then cut them out. I borrowed my friends overhead projector and started tracing away!

DIY TUTORIAL: CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN

I picked this beauty up at a garage sale for 2 bucks!! These magnet boards are usually around 20 dollars new, sometimes more or less if you can find them on sale. But I figured it would be a good buy for only two dollars. I wanted to still use it as a Xmas countdown,

but it was not my style AT ALL…

As you can see, their ribbon was starting to fall apart. I liked the letters, but was not a fan of the rest. They did not mod podge it, so I thought I would try and save the parts I liked.
